In honor of Father’s Day
“It never rains on a golf course”
I genuinely grew up believing that. My dad was an avid golfer and Sunday dinners didn’t happen until Dad returned from golf, even on the days it rained. When I asked him how he could golf in the rain… his reply was always the same. “Honey, it never rains on a golf course”. As the years went by some of my best memories were playing golf with my Dad, and after he died, I realized I didn’t really like golf, I just love being with him while doing something he truly loved. He also loved a perfect Manhattan, so in honor of my Dad, the Cottage Baker presents a Kentucky Bourbon Butter Cake.

Remembering mom.
Pretty much every picture taken of my mom her eyes were closed.
Pretty much every picture taken of my mom her eyes were closed.
Yep, I’m a lot like my mom, just ask my husband Danny. My mom died a little over 18 years ago, and still there is never a day that goes by that I don’t carry her with me. She would have loved my little cottage bakery and wanted “just a taste” of every thing I made. She loved coffee cake and would whip up a bisquick coffee cake on a moment’s notice - you know back in the day when company would just drop by randomly.
So in honor of her I created a Mother’s Day gift box with your choice of a sour cream coffee cake filled and topped with a brown sugar crumble or a lemon lavender coffee cake, dusted with confectionary sugar and just a hint of dried lavender. Each box comes with a little succulent, a tin of (SerendipiTea) lavender tea and 4 sweet plates and napkins.
It is my hope that this little box of joy will bring you joy in the sharing with your mom or memories of your mom.
I miss you mom.
Mother’s Day is May 12th.
